My journey to Wealthy Affiliate
When I first started looking into building an online business, I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of courses, “gurus,” and platforms promising overnight success. I didn’t want a gimmick; what I wanted was a solid foundation and practical skills I could actually use to grow my own websites.
That’s when I came across Wealthy Affiliate. At first, I was sceptical because I’d seen plenty of overhyped marketing platforms before. But the fact that they offered a free starter membership meant I could test the waters without committing a penny. I signed up, tried the training, and… well, I’ve been a member ever since. That was in 2017.
What is Wealthy Affiliate?
In simple terms, Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is an all-in-one platform for learning affiliate marketing and building an online business. It combines step-by-step training, website hosting, marketing tools, and a community of like-minded people who have been invaluable in helping me with my journey.
Think of it as a mix between an online business school and a virtual co-working space, with a lot less jargon and a lot more support. I didn’t feel stupid asking basic questions and I have made some great friends from across the world along the way.

My personal results & what I learned

Being prepared to put in the work is a big one here. This is NOT a get rich quick scheme, but it does give you the potential to take more control over your own life.
It might not be for you if:
- You want a done-for-you business with zero effort.
- You expect to make thousands in your first month or even year!

From my experience, here’s how to maximise your results:

- Ask questions in the WA community — it’s one of the friendliest spaces online
- Publish content regularly — even if it’s not perfect
- Apply each lesson immediately rather than waiting until the end
- Upgrade to Premium Plus to unlock more content – I did and I have never looked back

Pros:

Cons:

- Not industry-specific, you may have to adapt the training to your niche but that is easily done
