How to attract money using the law of attraction is one of the most common reasons that people are initially drawn to the concept in the first place. People recognise their desire to increase their wealth and are seeking out ways in which to do this. Attracting money with the law of attraction works in the same way as everything else.
The law of attraction states – “that which is like unto itself, is drawn“, which basically means, ‘like attracts like’. So if you want to attract more money into your life, you need to think like someone who already has financial abundance. That usually means retraining yourself to think about money and your current financial situation differently.
Here are some tips on how you can begin to do this to retrain your thoughts along more financially-abundant lines.
1. Use a penny
This is a technique which I learned from Greg Kuhn, who is a best-selling author about the law of attraction. What particularly appeals to me about Greg’s books is that they are written from the standpoint of a quantum physicist. As I love physics and am still interested in it, decades after leaving school, I really appreciate his scientific explanations about energy and the quantum field. If you want to read more about Greg Kuhn’s work, and his book, “Why Quantum Physicists Create More Abundance, click here to see how to buy this book on Amazon.
This technique is simple and is basically just a way of reminding yourself that abundance is all around you.
In the technique you commit to manifesting pennies – it doesn’t matter the denomination of the money you find, you could use a penny, 5p or 10p or the equivalent in your own currency. Just something small that you know is really abundant in the world – so abundant in fact that if you dropped it, most people wouldn’t even bother to pick it up – e.g. a penny.
What happens when you set your mind to finding a penny and imagining your joy and excitement when you realise you can do this, is that you send out a message to the universe that:
a) you realise that money is plentiful, and
b) you are in the business of finding and receiving it.
These are 2 very powerful messages that the universe will respond positively to.
So here’s what you do
- Set your intention to manifest pennies today.
- Feel how exciting it will be when you find a penny.
- When you do see a penny (and you will), pick it up and internally celebrate as if you had just won the lottery, thanking the universe for responding to your intention and reminding you that money is plentiful and that you can manifest money.
The important thing to remember here is that you are not celebrating becoming 1p richer but you are celebrating the reminder that you have found – i.e. choose to use every penny you find as a reminder of your abundance and your ability to manifest abundance.
The universe will not differentiate between the amounts – it only responds to the feelings. So if you are feeling amazing because you manifested some money of whatever denomination, things will pick up momentum and you will soon find yourself giving thanks for greater and greater amounts.
2. Gratitude journal
This is a technique which I first learnt by reading Jerry and Esther Hicks book about the law of attraction, called “Ask And It is Given“. Although since then, I’ve heard different versions of it in books and on the internet and it really is about that age-old adage of ‘counting your blessings’.
It is one of the simplest techniques there is to get yourself into a good feeling place about abundance. It is also one of the most enjoyable, and one that truly helps get you into your abundance zone.
What to do
All you have to do is get yourself a notebook, or start a file on your computer, and then write down all the things that you are grateful for. It could be your health, your children, the air you breathe, you favourite cushion, your pet, your favourite snugly jumper. The list should be endless. You don’t have to think about big things, just little things that when you look at them make you smile and think ‘thank you’.
If you want to increase your wealth and attract more money, then you could specifically look around and appreciate all the material things that you have been able to buy with your money.
If you do this for 5-10 minutes every day, you will be amazed at how much abundance you already have, and instead of allowing your thoughts to focus on what you don’t have, you will be retraining your brain to focus on the many, many things you do have. Simple!
3. Money in your pocket
This is another tip from my heroine, Esther Hicks and her Abraham teachings (thank you, Esther and Abraham!) It’s also a really fun one to do and is a bit like window shopping but with one important difference – this version promotes a shift in your vibration that window shopping normally sends in the opposite direction.
What to do
- Go to the bank and take out some cash – I recommend about £50 -£100 or your currency equivalent. It should be more than you usually carry and enough to buy most of the everyday things in shops like clothes, meals, simple jewellery etc.
- Put the money in your purse or wallet and carry it around with you – don’t spend it!
- As you go through your day, notice all the things that you could buy if you wanted to, with the cash you now have in your pocket.
- When you see things you like, tell yourself “I could buy that if I wanted to” or “It’s so good to know that I have the cash to buy that if I wanted to“.
- Consciously realise how good you feel knowing that you have the money to buy the things you want.
- If you see something that is more cash than you currently have, tell yourself “I’d love that – and won’t it be great when I manifest the money to buy it“.
Unlike window-shopping, which most people approach from a feeling of lack or “I wish I could afford that“; this approach makes you feel like you can afford things so there is a subtle, but very powerful, shift in your awareness and vibration.
And the universe will responding to the “I can” part rather than the “I can’t” part.
4. Vision boards
VIsion boards are a wonderful way to keep you motivated and get you to focus on what you want. When it comes to money, many of us dream about physical, material things like new cars, houses, holidays etc. This is great and should be encouraged. Your imagination is your greatest gift.
This tip is a bit like your ‘at home’ version of tip 3 where you spend time creating a board or book of things you will do or have, when your abundance starts to flow in the way you want.
I have a mood board where I have cut up pictures of my ideal house in its ideal location – I have designed my bedroom, bathroom and garden, complete with swimming pool and big swing sun lounger! When I look at my board, it makes me feel happy because I know that each day that goes by, this manifestation is becoming more and more real. I often close my eyes and imagine myself with a glass of something cold, sitting on my swing, watching my children playing in the garden. Heaven!
How to make a vision board:
- Get yourself a pin board or scrap book. It doesn’t matter what you use – that will be determined by how much wall space you have or whether you want your entire family looking at your ideas and dreams too. You can make it public or keep it private; it’s up to you.
- Go through magazines, photos, the internet for images of things that you would like to spend your new-found wealth and abundance on. It could be simple things like a new pair of shoes, or a holiday, a car or a new house. You can also put up things about other people that you might like to help too, such as charities, other family members of friends.
- You can use words and text too if you want to, but I find it best to use short, punchy words that stand out, rather than a poem or piece of longer prose, but it really is up to you. My board has the words “every day, in every way” on it as a reminder that new things are always coming my way.
5. Affirmations
Affirmations are a wonderful way to get you into the zone of feeling good as long as when you recite them or listen/watch them, they actually do make you feel good.
You can use your own words, listen to audio downloads or watch YouTube videos – there are plenty out there which are very powerful and useful in attracting financial abundance.
Some affirmation tapes use binaural beats, some use hypnotherapy and relaxation methods to by-pass your conscious brain and talk to your sub-conscious.
You can link to some of my favourite subliminal audios on the law of attraction, including money and wealthy, here.
A word of caution – the law of attraction is just that – a law based on ATTRACTING something. There is no ‘pushing things away’ law. You cannot say “I don’t want to be poor” and expect to be rich. You will just get more of “not wanting to be poor”.
What you think about is what you attract. In fact, more specifically; what you FEEL is what you attract since we are talking about vibrational energy here rather than anything else.
Thoughts lead to emotions which leads you to FEEL a certain way – which is the vibration you are broadcasting to the universe. The universe then responds and brings you lots of what Esther Hicks calls “cooperative components” which will bring you more of what you were broadcasting.
So if you are thinking thoughts about money but these thoughts are not positive, in that you are thinking that you don’t have enough money, then your feelings will be negative, worrisome and concerned with a lack of money. That will be what you are broadcasting to the universe and that feeling will be what the universe lines up with, and matches. So you end up with more of the same, which is a lack of money.
The trick here is to keep things very general around a subject until you know that you are broadcasting more positive vibrations.
So if repeating to yourself “I am rich” and “money loves me”, makes you internally feel to “yeah, right? who are you kidding?” you need to think more general thoughts about abundance first. I have written a whole article on how to do affirmations properly which you might want to check out here.
Affirmations are great ways to attract abundance done in the right way. Using rampages about things that you appreciate also help to get you into a good feeling place so that you are sure the feelings you’re broadcasting are the correct ones – which are “the world is a totally abundant place, and I am unlimited in what I can create here“.
6. Think positively
Similar to tip 5, if you can believe that there is hope in whatever situation you are faced with, then you will find a way out. It doesn’t matter what the situation is; you can face every situation in life from a place of fear or a place of hope. And this will affect your thoughts, feelings and ultimately, your outcomes.
I urge you to think about your situation from a place of HOPE. No one knows what is round the corner but if you are worried about it, then this will not be as beneficial as if you tell yourself that “help is on the way – the universe knows what I need, and the universe is on it!”
It’s the age-old question of faith really. It doesn’t matter what religion or faith you hold, but I urge you to have some trust and believe that all will be well. It really will help you to refocus your thoughts and turn your anxiety about a situation into more positive anticipation and excitement.
And when you start getting excited and eager to know how these things will all play out for the best, trusting that they truly will, you shift your vibration in a more positive direction.
Read my post about tapping and the benefits of EFT here too if you need some extra help to overcome anxieties about money or stress.
And finally…
The tips above give you ideas on how to think about your financial situation more positively and abundantly, but the truth is, if you are struggling with that, the really important thing is that you feel abundant in something.
It doesn’t have to be about money. If you can feel abundant and joyful about the fact that you always have enough air to breathe and space to walk around on the planet, then you will send this joyful message out to the universe. And the universe will respond in kind – to bring you more abundance on every level – finances included.
So get out there and celebrate all the things you have got, and forget about the few things you don’t have in your possession immediately, that the universe is currently organising on your behalf.
Here’s to your eternal financial abundance.

Affirmations for attracting love and relationships
I love your tips as well as your overall site. I regularly practice some of these techniques and agree that they are very powerful, especially when combined. Thanks for reminding me of the importance of our thinking and feeling. Keep up the good work!
Hi Blanka. Many thanks for your comment and I’m so pleased that you like the article and the site. We all need reminding of these things from time to time as there are a lot of distractions in the ‘real’ world that can get in the way of our true purpose if we let them. Have a wonderful day. Gail
This is a very good post. I certainly believe in affirmations and the use of a vision board. Most of today’s self help gurus have used and are still using affirmations and vision boards. Tony Robbins, John Assaraf, Grant Cardone, Vic Johnson, Bob Proctor, and many more believe in the use of affirmations and visualization.
Napoleon Hill summed it up in his classic work “Think and Grow Rich”:
We become what we think about…
Hello Howard. Thank you for your comment and I’m glad you picked up on the vision boards and use of visualisations. As humans, we are blessed with the most amazing imaginations but sadly many people are told that this is only ‘daydreaming’ and won’t get them anywhere. The truth is really the exact opposite. Daydreaming and visualising is crucial to expanding your consciousness and evolving. I love Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” book too and it is one I recommend on my favourite motivational and spiritual people page.
I really enjoyed this post, Gail. I am a believer in the law of attraction and have used it to attract abundance into my life. I am truly blessed. These are all great tips. I love the pennies from heaven. What a great way to be grateful and attract money into your life.
Hi Wendy. Thanks for reading and your comment. Glad you liked the pennies from heaven – it’s a simple and easy way to feel more abundance. My daughter is an expert at it, only she uses £1 coins….supplements her pocket money greatly! Wishing you continued success on your journey here. All the best. Gail
I believe you are right. Feeling grateful for what you have leads to knowing you have abundance around you. If you think you are rich you are probably wealthier than you thought.
Thank you for giving out a little positive in a world that tries otherwise
Thank you Mercedus for your comments and I’m glad you are practising gratitude. It really is one of the best quick-fixes to a lot of problems. When we focus on what we have instead of what we have not, good things really do flow.
Hi Gail!
I have been feeding my mind and soul with Law of Attraction books and teaching from master manifesters like Vishen Lakhiani (mindvalley.com), Christie Marie Sheldon (loveorabove.com) and of course, Esther Hicks. I think the most challenging aspect I have faced with becoming a better manifester is really understanding that it is not thoughts but feelings that allow for easier manifestation. Have you read Tribe of Mentors, a book by Tim Ferris? Awesome book! One of his collaborating guests, Soman Chainani, says “The soul doesn’t speak in thoughts at all – it speaks in feelings, immages, and clues”. But through experience, I’ve found out that this, like other skills, takes time and diligent practice to accomplish. Christie Marie Sheldon, mentioned above, also explains that clearing your lower energitic self is the best way to manifest what you deserve. Unfortunately, the great majority of us carry emotional baggage from early childhood, sometimes as early as 0 to 7 years old. If you can’t clear that baggage first, operating from a place of love, where manifesting is easiest to achieve, becomes a real challenge. On the other hand, when it happens (and it’s happened to me already so I’m a believer!) it is an amazing feeling. Knowing you can actually “bend your reality” as Vishen Lakhiani calls it, is liberating and incredibly empowering. So I continue to learn and practice, and relish on the time gap from the time I ask to the moment when the universe grants. I have also learned, and this has been HUGE for me, not to become attached to the outcome. Through amazing coincidences, synchronicities and clues, the universe will give you what you ask for when you are ready to receive it. Sorry if I have extended this comment to long! Quantum physics and Law of Attraction are subjects I find fascinating. Tks for sharing yor article. Great job!
Hi Luis. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment on this article. I’m glad that you have found the law of attraction and are using it in your life. You rightly point out that whilst thoughts are the starting point, thoughts lead to feelings which in turn lead to vibrations that you broadcast. Understanding this is fundamental to using the law of attraction in the way you want. You may find my post on the language of the universe helpful here as it explains it in more depth.
I also like the point you make about not becoming too attached to the outcome of things – it’s easy for us humans to think we know the best outcome and the best way to get there, but luckily the universe knows better. When we become attached to one outcome or one path, we cut of all other paths that may be more appropriate. The best thing to do is to continue to hold what you want in your mind, but keep the ‘how’ open to the universe. Trust and faith play a part here too.
I’ve not read the “Tribe of Mentors” book but I did know of it. Might head over and buy a copy to read now though. Many thanks, Gail.
Hi Gail,
I very much enjoyed reading your post.
Your positivity shows so much in your writing.
I always like to think positively, especially in the last few years.
I firmly believe that if you want something then you can get it. Always believe in your own abilities and never give up on your dreams.
I will be bookmarking your site so I can come back to it and read more of your posts.
Thanks,
Best wishes,

Hi Michael and thank you for your kind comments. I always aim to be positive because I understand how our state of mind and feelings affect everything around us. It has many names nowadays; mindfulness, spirituality, new-age thinking, positive mental attitude, self-belief etc, but it all really boils down to the same thing. We are here to evolve and we do that by creating using the law of attraction as it is the basis of the universe. Once you understand it, and apply it, magic can truly happen. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you again. All the best. Gail
Hi Gail,
What an amazing post! So many things to think about. So many of these principles are viewed thru my eyes of faith. Though many of the names are different, they all come down to the same thing; hoping and believing that all will be well. Worrying doesn’t change anything, so give it up and think positively instead.
Cheers,
Suzanne
You’ve hit the nail right on the head here. Spiritual truth is spiritual truth, regardless of the names we call it. Having a positive, optimistic attitude is who we truly are and we should strive with all our might to maintain it. Money is no different – it is a source of energy which we have all agreed to use on earth – and as such – has the potential to do much good. Let’s focus on that and get off the soapbox of ‘it isn’t fair!’. All the best. Gail
