If you think that equinoxes are the same year after year, you’re wrong! Each one is different with planetary forces and energies occurring in unique ways every year. In 2025, these energies will be even more profound than usual due to astrological influences such as the recent aligning of the planets, and the long-awaited global shift in consciousness toward more sustainability and spiritual awakening. The Spring Equinox 2025, occurring on March 20 2025, offers a powerful moment to pause, reflect, and realign with the cycles of nature that many of us feel instinctively, even if we have let some of them slip from our day-to-day lives. There has never been a better time to find empowering ways to celebrate Spring Equinox 2025.
What is the Spring Equinox?
The Spring Equinox, (aka Vernal Equinox), occurs when the sun crosses the celestial equator, resulting in nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness across the globe. In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the official start of spring, a season of growth, new beginnings, and fresh energy. It is a time to embrace the awakening of nature and align your intentions with the natural flow of the year. This celestial event marks the time when day and night are perfectly balanced, and we recognise the day as having an equal amount of daylight and nighttime. In reality, the equinox is a fleeting moment in time, (at 09.01.09 am in London (GMT)) but for us, it can symbolise harmony and equilibrium. We can also welcome the fact that we will see more daylight than darkness at least until the next Autumnal Equinox. The equinox is also seen traditionally as a time of rebirth, offering a fresh start in nature’s annual cycle, and we love to celebrate it in our house.

What Makes the Spring Equinox 2025 Special?
While the Spring Equinox occurs every year, 2025 brings a unique combination of cosmic and earthly energies that make this time particularly potent for growth and transformation. I’m not an astrologist but I can feel the energies changing almost daily at the moment.
One of the most influential aspects regarding planetary energies at this time is that Pluto will be in Aquarius (and there for the next 20 years or so). This means that the planet Pluto is moving through the zodiac sign of Aquarius. In astrology, each planet is believed to influence certain aspects of life and personality, and each zodiac sign represents specific traits and energies.

Key points:
The planet: Pluto was discovered on February 18, 1930, at the Lowell Observatory. It was originally considered the ninth planet in our solar system but was reclassified as a dwarf planet by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 2006. Pluto is approximately 3.6 billion miles (5.8 billion kilometres) from the Sun, and has an eccentric orbit that takes about 248 Earth years to complete one revolution. Its rotation period is about 6.4 Earth days.
Pluto’s influence: Pluto is associated with transformation, power, and deep psychological changes. It is known as the planet of rebirth and regeneration, often bringing profound shifts and new beginnings
Aquarius traits: Aquarius is an air sign known for its forward-thinking, innovative, and humanitarian qualities. It values independence, originality, and social progress
Astrological transit: When Pluto moves into Aquarius, astrologers believe that the energies of transformation (Pluto) will be influenced by the traits of Aquarius. Therefore, this transit might signify a period of significant societal changes, technological advancements, and shifts towards more progressive and unconventional approaches.
You only have to look at the news to see that we are experiencing a lot of that on a daily basis already, and some suggest this marks a major turning point in global consciousness, moving humanity toward deeper technological innovation, collective awakening, and social liberation. This new energy aligns perfectly with the equinox’s themes of balance, renewal, and personal growth.
Now, as the Earth begins to awaken, we have the opportunity to reconnect with nature, embrace personal transformation, and develop global unity in the process.
Why the Spring Equinox Matters in 2025
Apart from the astrological aspects around the equinox this year, there are also other anniversaries to think about:
Post-pandemic renewal
It’s five years since the pandemic truly hit the world. After years of global upheaval, the Spring Equinox 2025 represents a moment of collective healing. The world is gradually recovering, and this equinox offers the perfect opportunity to set intentions for rebuilding, reconnecting with nature, and building a stronger sense of community. It’s a time to embrace the lessons learned and move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and balance.
Personal Growth and Spiritual Awakening
The energy of the equinox aligns perfectly with a period of predicted personal and spiritual growth on the planet. you only have to look on YouTube to see many channellers, mediums and psychics predicting 2025 and the next few years up to 2030 as being a period of huge growth and transformation. Some of these use some scare tactics but you don’t have to buy into those if you are connected with your own spiritual energy.
Instead, use this time to reconnect with your spiritual practice, set new intentions, and release old habits that no longer serve you. Whether through meditation, yoga, or journaling, this is a powerful moment to align yourself with your higher purpose and embrace the changes you want to see in your life. The universe is supporting you, but sometimes, you might just feel that it is supporting you that little bit more, and this is one of those times.
Empowering ways to celebrate the Spring Equinox 202
Spend time in nature
Reconnect with the Earth by spending time outdoors, whether by taking a walk, planting a garden or simply sitting in a park. Use this time to reflect on the beauty of the natural world and your place within it. Think about:
- Watching the sunrise or sunset
- Light a candle and offer a prayer to the universe
- Spring clean your house
- Decorate your house/front door/room to represent spring
- Create a piece of wild art expressing what you feel
- Paint or sculpt something
- Hug a tree, feeling the energy that you can exchange
- Plant some spring bulbs or veggies
- Tie multicoloured ribbons in your trees or bushes to decorate them
- Create a mini sundial – see the directions from the Met Office at: https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/learn-about/met-office-for-schools/other-content/other-resources/experiments/sundial
Set powerful intentions
This is an ideal time for manifestation and in my book, it is much more potent than the New Year on 31st January which is a man-made phenomenon. Vernal Equinox is the universe’s own rebirth and is part of the natural Earthly cycle, completely independent of humans!
Write down your goals for the year, focusing on what you want to create, heal, or transform in your life. Align your intentions with the planetary energy of Pluto in Aquarius—think about how you can contribute to the collective good as well as your personal growth. Some things to consider include:
- Writing your goals in the present tense and seeing them as already done
- Meditating daily
- Practice yoga
- Starting a gratitude practice
- Starting a diary or journal
- Practice more self-love
- Getting rid of things you no longer like, love or need
- Following the seasons more readily such as celebrating the equinoxes and solstices
- Getting a lunar calendar so that you can celebrate the phases of the Moon too
- Rekindling your plans to keep fit
- Commit to a healthy eating plan
- Commit to recycling more and reducing waste for increased sustainability
Practice rituals of renewal
This is something that I love doing either on my own or with my family as it really helps us to mark the changes in the year in a significant way. You can do active things like spring cleaning your home, or more ritualistic things such as using herbs and incense to clear out old energy. I like to do a meditation that invites renewal, by both physically and energetically clearing my space. This has great advantages in clearing out my mind too and letting more of my Higher Self in. Other things you could do:
- Take a ritual bath with flowers, herbs, and essential oils that evoke springtime. This practice can be a relaxing way to cleanse and rejuvenate your spirit
- Perform a simple blessing ceremony for your home and family. Walk through your space with a candle or incense, offering gratitude and blessings for the new season
- Set up a spring altar with flowers, candles and images of renewal – this often doubles up as our Easter decorations too
- Plant seeds and repot house plants
- Create a sacred circle either in your house or your garden – you can use natural elements like crystals, stones and flowers as well as candles or small ornaments
- Cook using seasonal ingredients and relevant recipes that you enjoy
- Reconnect with old friends – send them a card or a greeting out of the blue
- Support green initiatives in your area
- Offer some prayers or meditations for global healing and renewal too

I LOVE this time of year as we emerge from the darker days into the light. Now is the perfect time to align with the energy of the season and embrace new beginnings on your own, or preferably reach out to encompass your family, friends and the wider human community. Remember, WE ARE ALL ONE!

The importance of spending quality family time
I would say this article really struck a chord with me. It redefines the Spring Equinox not as just another date, but as a powerful opportunity for renewal and transformation. I love how it connects ancient wisdom with our modern push toward sustainability and spiritual awakening. The idea of aligning your personal intentions with planetary energies—especially with influences like Pluto in Aquarius—adds a fresh, dynamic layer to the celebration. The practical suggestions, like spending time in nature, setting intentions, and even creating ritual spaces, make the whole concept feel both accessible and deeply meaningful. It’s a reminder that this season isn’t just about new beginnings for nature, but also for our own lives, encouraging us to reconnect with ourselves, our loved ones, and the world around us.
Hi Dan. Thank you so much for your kind message. I’m so pleased that you liked the article and the you found the practical suggestions useful. That was my aim. In my house, we celebrate all the equinoxes and solstices as we believe they are aligned to the true natural cycles of the world, rather than the man-made ones that so many other festivals relate to. Not that there is anything wrong with those – we have imagination and free will after all – but I just like the ones that are so closely related to the Earth and nature.
The Spring Equinox is always a powerful time, but the 2025 astrological influences make it even more significant. Pluto in Aquarius signals deep transformation on both personal and collective levels, and this article does a great job of highlighting how we can harness this energy for renewal.
One question that comes to mind: With the strong emphasis on balance and rebirth, are there specific grounding techniques that can help those who might feel overwhelmed by all the shifts happening? Also, when setting intentions during this time, do you recommend focusing on long-term goals or more immediate, seasonal changes?
I love the idea of celebrating through nature rituals—planting seeds, decorating with spring colors, and even creating a spring altar. It really reinforces our connection to the cycles of the Earth. Thanks for the inspiring read!
Hi Jacob. Thanks for reading the article and taking the time to comment. I’m pleased that is struck a chord with you and I hope you find something in the article that you can do to celebrate the equinox this year. To answer your questions:
1) I find that the best way for me to ground myself in the physical is to meditate. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but by connecting to a higher source, I can realise who I truly am, and that is all I need to find peace and calm. I also find that listening to gratitude meditations also helps me.
2) As I said in the article, I much prefer the start of the spring to emerge from my metaphorical winter cocoon and I’ve never been a lover of 1st Jan as the start of a new year, so I usually make goals and plans starting in the spring when I have more energy. In winter, I tend to want to hunker down and not disturb things too much. However, in spring, I’m excited and raring to go and that energy will seep into the plans I have.
